Thank you for explaining. Method #1 appears to have "worked" - will try method # 2 another time.

To insert a link in a message click on the address bar in your browser so the address is highlighted and copy then paste the address in to the message

http://www.drugs-info.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl

Also what you can do is leave a space after the URL address and type some text like click here, then highlight it all URL and TEXT by running the mouse pointer over it with the left button pressed then click on the Insert Hyperlink Button   the text will then only be showing and the address will look like it is in the code below.

Code:
[url=http://www.drugs-info.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl]Click Here[/url]

Both these links go to my drugs site hope you can understand what I have said.

Hello again, Kevin. Being of limited familiarity with computer procedures, I don't yet know the proper way to post a link.  Could you explain that to me? ...... In the meantime, it was your original posting at the head of this catagory, which starts off:

" Does God exist?

This is one of the best explanations of why God allows pain and suffering that I have seen. It's an explanation other people will understand.

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects....." etc

which has prompted all the later entries.

Quote from sheep on Jan 15th, 2007, 6:34pm:
the Nov 23 2006 posting about the existence of God and relation to pain and suffering is indeed thought provoking.

Could you place a link to the posting you are talking about Sheep.

Could there also be additional facets?  What about the book of Job? (a man who believed in God, but was not shielded from suffering?) ... or what about a verse such as "... to you it has been given, as regards Christ, not only the believing on him but the suffering for him also......" (Phillippians 1:29)?

Thanks again, Kevin, for your stimulating and welcome observations.

Not too hard to remember... it makes a lot of sense.  Good story...

I was thinking recently about the fact that Christian Faith is also based on logical thinking.  It makes sense.  Of course, God wants your heart, not only your mind... but on the other hand, God never asks you to believe in things that make no sense...

It's not a bad one to tell people if you can remember the hole story.

This is one of the best explanations of why God allows pain and suffering that I have seen. It's an explanation other people will understand.

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects.

When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said: "I don't believe that God exists."

"Why do you say that?" asked the customer.

"Well, you just have to go out in the street to realise that God doesn't exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things."

The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument. The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and un-kept.

The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber: "You know what? Barbers do not exist."

"How can you say that?" asked the surprised barber. "I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!"

"No!" the customer exclaimed. "Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside."

"Ah, but barbers DO exist! What happens is, people do not come to me."

"Exactly!"- affirmed the customer. "That's the point! God, too, DOES exist!
What happens, is, people don't go to Him and do not look for Him.
That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world."
